Monday, September 24, 2001 Russell Katz Russ, Thank you for sharing your exceptional approach to wave solder process control with the members of our wave solder team. I found your training both thorough and very informative. Your trainer taught in a way that got everyone involved, and made it easy for even our most novice operators to understand. It was extremely beneficial that your entire training program, and even your training manuals, are in both Spanish and English. This allowed our staff to easily follow the training, and will certainly provide us with an excellent guide to refer back to. The best part of our training was learning how to take advantage of our Wave Solder Optimizer. You showed us how we could eliminate many of our solder defects by incorporating our Optimizer into our daily process. He also showed us how the Optimizer could illuminate variations between our different wave machines. We learned that one of our wave machines showed a disparallelism problem that was corrected after the training had been finished. We also learned that many of our board related defects, mainly skipping, could be eliminated by controlling our parallelism and by increasing the immersion depth of our boards. We shouldn't blame the board design as often as we have in the past. Thank you for providing us with some excellent procedures and the metallic stickers. I will let you know if we need any more. It was also interesting to see the Flux Distribution Window. When we purchased our Optimizer, your Flux Distribution Window wasn't offered as a feature. I can see how crucial it is to get an accurate picture of how our fluxers are performing. Please send me a price quote for a new carrier board that includes the Flux Distribution Window. Our training made us re-think many of our previous notions on how we should wave solder. We now understand that we can't rely on a thermal profiler to control our wave solder process. We now have a much better appreciation for how important it is to control our boards' experiences at the wave, and plan on incorporating the Optimizer into our daily process. It is definitely a valuable tool, and the LCD display makes it easy for us to respond immediately to the data that it provides. I am happy to discuss our experience with any of your customers that are considering investing in your training. I'm sure glad that we did. This was the first formal wave solder process training that I had received. It was definitely a very good training. Sincerely, Martin Orozco |
