To Whom It May Concern, I am personally taking my time to write you about the most recent training provided to us by your trainer. We are familiar with his expertise in the wave solder process from previous training workshops he's conducted for our facility and others throughout Delphi, though never for my particular manufacturing unit. While we had made significant progress in Optimizer usage on a daily basis, we found that some of our staff did not respond to data provided by our Optimizer. Working diligently with our staff, your instructor showed us the importance of making adjustments to our process based on measurements taken with our Optimizer. At all times he directly connected this to board quality to show us how important it is to actively think about and react to Optimizer data. We now realize the importance of marking the fingers on all four of the wave machines under my direct responsibility; using the metallic stickers your company provided us. Your "Parallelism Checklist" gave us further suggestions of how to stay within your recommended parallelism specification of +/- 0.2 seconds. We now have the benefits of increased throughput and defect reduction by this single process improvement. Your instructor showed us how to take the next step in total process control by adjusting our dwell times on a board-by-board basis. Our Optimizer's four run memory simplifies this process by allowing us to view data immediately after each run without having to stop production to download data to a personal computer (which we do at the end of the shift). Your instructor's total dedication to our environment during non-production hours was a solid advantage to his visit. We thank you again for a successful presentation and will gladly recommend your unique methods to anyone interested in improving their wave soldering process. Sincerely, P.S. This training course was far better than this letter can ever describe! |
