TRW Automotive August 24, 2003 Martin Ingall
Dear Mr. Ingall: We decided to bring in your trainer to do a 3-day process-troubleshooting course for us. Our staff is knowledgeable about the wave solder process but needed to learn about implementing your unusual process improvement techniques to help us reduce our board defects. Since we stopped using our Wave Solder Optimizer early this year due to staff changes, our board defect level increased. One of our highest volume boards has been affected with bridging. Our process adjustments to this board caused another series of defects' a real headache. We learned that the simple implementation of your methods and procedures actually attacks board problems and will keep us from arguing with our design department. Our Optimizer is now being viewed as a process tool to prevent defects from occurring rather than a maintenance tool. Your approach to process troubleshooting solved our board issues right away and gave us all the evidence we needed to implement your Optimizer techniques daily on each wave machine. Thanks for your expertise. You can have anyone call me as a reference. Felix Delgado |
